Production Blog - The Home Stretch!

Image
Hey Blog! The finish line is in sight for our music video project, and it's an exciting time. The long hours of filming and editing have all led us to this moment – the final edits and the last finishing touches.   We had already incorporated some stunning transitions and scene switches into the video, but in this final stretch, we're fine-tuning them. The transitions need to be not just smooth but also visually captivating. We're looking for those transitions that will leave the audience in awe. Audio Sweetening: The sound quality is as important as the visuals. We're meticulously going through the audio tracks, ensuring that the music syncs flawlessly with the video. Every beat and lyric should be perfectly aligned with the visuals, creating a harmonious experience.: The colors in the video need to be just right. It's all about making sure that each frame pops and evokes the right emotions. Polishing Visual Effects: We're giving special attention to any vi...

Production Blog - Creating The Magic!

Image
Hey Blog! The magic is almost here! Editing is where the real magic happens in the world of filmmaking. It's the stage where our music video for Kanye West's "Homecoming" truly comes to life. For this crucial step, I turned to my reliable iPad Pro. Why did I pick the iPad Pro for editing? It's simple,    it's a powerhouse. With its processing capabilities and brilliant display, it was a no-brainer. The touchscreen feature made editing a breeze, allowing me to fine-tune every shot with a personal touch. CapCut was my editing software of choice. Its user-friendly design and powerful features made it a perfect fit for our project. The app's ability to create captivating transitions was a game-changer. It provided the flexibility to experiment with different effects and transitions to keep our audience glued to the screen. As I started the editing process, a treasure trove of footage from our filming days lay before me. It was a mix of excitement and challen...

Production Blog - More Filming!

Image
Hey Blog! On our last day of filming, we wanted to capture the essence of a real homecoming event, and Alyssa's attendance at our school's homecoming provided the perfect opportunity to do just that. Alyssa's presence at the school's homecoming was not just about enjoying the event; it was also a crucial part of our music video. The lively atmosphere, flashing lights, and excited crowd perfectly aligned with the song's celebratory tone. We knew this was the ideal backdrop for some of our scenes. iPhone Filming: Armed with our trusty iPhones, we set out to capture the action. The versatility and quality of modern smartphones allowed us to record high-definition footage seamlessly. Plus, they were discreet, making it easy to blend in with the real homecoming attendees. To capture the essence of Kanye West's success and his references to financial achievements in the song, we used prop money in certain scenes. It was a clever way to illustrate the song's them...

Production Blog - Filming!

Image
Hey Blog! We had no idea just how exciting and fun our journey would be from the very start. We chose our school's meditation garden as the perfect place to kick off our project.  With camera equipment in hand and a detailed shot list, we headed to our schools meditation garden. Its natural beauty and serene atmosphere made it an ideal backdrop for the video, setting the stage for our story. As we began filming, a sense of joy and anticipation filled the air. Some of our classmates and even a couple of teachers noticed what we were up to and wanted to be a part of it. They approached us, eager to join our project, and we welcomed them with open arms. Our small, two-person project quickly transformed into a group effort as more people gathered in the garden. This spontaneity brought unexpected creativity and energy to our video. Some students even brought props and costumes, adding a new dimension to our visual storytelling. The garden became a vibrant, lively set, echoing with...

Production Blog - Thoughts & Creations?!

Image
Hey Blog! As Alyssa and I embarked on our music video project for "Homecoming" by Kanye West, we were both excited and eager to bring our creative visions to life. We decided to begin by thoroughly analyzing the song's lyrics and mood to ensure that our video would be a fitting visual representation. We both felt that the song's themes of nostalgia, homecoming, and personal growth would be central to our video's narrative. After brainstorming, we settled on a storyline that would follow a character's journey back to their hometown, reflecting on past experiences and personal growth. We created a detailed shot list to ensure we captured the essential moments and visuals that would convey our narrative effectively. Deciding on the location was crucial, and we chose a combination of urban settings and nostalgic, small-town scenes to illustrate the concept of homecoming. Alyssa and I divided the responsibilities for pre-production tasks. Alyssa focused on securi...

Production Blog - Just getting started!

Image
Hey bloggers. As of right now, we're trying to figure out what we're going to do and how we'll plan for our music video. We won't have costumes that stand out but most likely an outfit that would match well with the original music video. When it comes to where we might film, our options are either school or scenes to represent a "city". For example, many tall buildings. Places with a lot of people and colors. I do have work and Alyssa usually has to watch my brother after school so it's going to be a bit tricky to find an exact time but we are talking about it and trying to make it work. Eventually, we will find some time that is convenient for both of us. The only "props" that we'd use in a sense would be our phones to record but I'm not so sure that would be considered a prop. Other than that, we don't really have "props" that we'd use but we are going to talk it over the next time we see each other. Now, if there is...

Group Blog   Hey there Blog! I am here on the journey of creating my music video for AS Level AICE Media Studies. This project is bringing me extremely close with Alyssa Jaidane, a fellow classmate with a strong passion for film making! Alyssa was an easy option for my project partner because of her talent for the arts and excellent eye for aesthetics. We both have the same ambition for producing aesthetically appealing material that evokes strong emotional responses in viewers. 'Homecoming' by Kanye West was the music we decided to use for this project because of its upbeat and vivacious spirit. The lively and cheery tone of the song perfectly complements our objective to make a music video that inspires viewers to feel energised and joyful.  We are doing  Kanye West's 'Homecoming' music video for its original storyline and aesthetic direction, which served as a wealth of inspiration for our own adaptation. We are inspired by the symbolism and storyline in the orig...

Introduction Blog

Hey blog! My name is Shadaé Graham and I am here for the course of AS level Media Studies. I am about to be turning 17 years old in about two weeks; my birthday is September 19, 2006, which makes my Zodiac sign a Virgo! I have a strong love for legos, specifically the architectural sets. So far I have built the Guggenheim Museum, The Pyramid of Giza, and the United States White House out of Legos. I also love my hair, and I am almost always listening to music. My favorite genres of music is Rap and R&B but to be more specific, I enjoy Trap music which is a subcategory that falls into rap and R&B music which was generated in Atlanta Georgia; therefore, I mainly listen to artists such as Future, Summer Walker, and Bryson Tiller. My family and I are all Jamaican but now we all live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I am the youngest out of 4 siblings, I have 2 sisters and a brother. I played volleyball for most of my life up until the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, I fell out of love...
